The Underground Awaits: A New Era for Portals
Greetings, Daevas!
We’ve been listening to your feedback regarding the Idian Depth access points. For a long time, the portal system was... chaotic, to say the least. Portals would flicker into existence for a mere 3 to 18 seconds before vanishing into thin air, making it more about luck (and low latency) than actual gameplay.
We decided it was time for a change that rewards the explorers among you. This update, running on our Aion 4.8 environment, introduces a completely revamped spawning logic.
What has changed?
- No More "Blink-and-Miss-It": Portals now stay open for 30 minutes once they appear. No more rushing only to see the last sparkles of a closing rift.
- Predictable Cycles, Unpredictable Locations: Portals follow a 4-hour rotation cycle. However, they can appear in various hidden spots across Kaldor, Akaron, Signia, and Vengar.
- The Thrill of the Hunt: We have intentionally disabled global announcements. You won't see a "system message" telling you where to go. To find the path to the underground, you’ll need to scout the maps, share intel with your legion, and keep your eyes peeled.
Why this change?
We want the world to feel alive. We want to bring back the "magic" of discovery. Whether you are an Elyos or an Asmodian, the race to secure these entrances is now about strategy and vigilance.
The portals are out there. The cycle has begun. Will you be the one to find the corridor first?
See you in the depths, The Atreia's Chronicles Team
